DIY Chalkboard Paint (in Custom Colours ;))

Dry Non-Sanded Grout (any place that sells tiles should be able to provide this pretty cheaply!)
Acrylic paints in your choice of colours
Measuring spoons and cups
Mixing cup or bowl
Paintbrush or stick to stir

1. Measure 1.5 teaspoons of the non-sanded grout and put in your mixing cup. Warning: its dusty so wear a mask or do it outside or near an open window.

2. Pour in approx 1/4 cup of paint and stir well. If you're attempting to colour match to another colour I suggest doing that first then adding the paint to the grout.

3. Stir thoroughly and don't worry if its grainy, it'll paint on smoothly!

4. Apply as many coats as required.

5. Prep chalkboard by rubbing chalk all over it then cleaning off and ta dah - you're ready to go :)

DIY

Soften hard paintbrushes in hot vinegar for a few minutes. Then wash paintbrush in soap and warm water and set out to dry.

Toddler Art on Walls

  • Try rubbing stale bread on the pen stains.

  • If its on wallpaper be careful using vinegar as it strips the glue off the back if it gets through that far and you'll end up with peeling wallpaper!

  • Try using a sponge dampened with white vinegar but blot it off within a couple of minutes and don't use near a paper seam IYKWIM.

  • Baking soda and water in a thick paste may scrub the pen marks off too.

  • Rub the pen marks with Isopropyl Alcohol.

  • Remove crayon marks with white toothpaste or baking soda applied with a damp cloth.

Grout

  • Use 3 cups of baking soda and one cup of water mixed into a paste and applied with an old toothbrush to clean grout. Follow by full strength white vinegar.

  • Hydrogen peroxide should help keep the black at bay and once its all clean try resealing the grout to help keep it clean.

Mildew and Mould

Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts water in a spray bottle. Use the hydrogen peroxide thats available at the supermarket. Spray the ceiling and leave to dry for an hour then rinse the areas off.

Otherwise you could sponge undiluted white vinegar on and leave it.

You could also try dissolving half a cup of vinegar with half a cup of borax in warm water and sponging that onto the mildew and mould.

Rust Remover

Sprinkle some salt directly onto the rust. Squeeze a lime over the rust until it is well soaked. Leave the mixture on for about three minutes and scrub off the residue with a piece of lime rind.
